TEXPAC Membership—A Good Investment

Excerpts from a letter sent by John T. Gill, MD, as DCMS TEXPAC chair, to DCMS members.

Dear Colleague:

Your political action committee, TEXPAC, has been extremely effective in past years in finding and supporting those candidates who understand our issues. Unfortunately, only 20% of TMA members choose to pay their annual dues of $125. That does not generate near enough funds to support medicine friendly candidates in all of the races we need to be involved in.

You can join online at www.texpac.org or by phoning Tracy Casto at the DCMS. For the sake of all of us, I urge you to join TEXPAC by paying your $125 dues. Or better yet, join me at the $300 level. If you are unable to serve on committees or travel to Austin, at least support your colleagues with your dues. If $10 a month sounds high, consider what a new tax on your practice will cost you.

Don't expect others to carry your load. If you are already a TEXPAC member, I thank you. If not, I hope I have made you think. Your best and perhaps only friend in Austin and the campaign trail is TEXPAC. Join us today.

Sincerely,
John T. Gill, MD
