work to the Dallas Medical Journal.

 


The Dallas Medical Journal is the official publication of the Dallas County Medical Society. Published monthly, the DMJ is mailed to 4500 member physicians. Content is a mixture of clinical information, medical society news, and practical advice for the business of medicine. Inside each issue, readers will find:

President's Page, a forum for the president to voice his opinions and concerns
On the Pulse, which highlights news of interest in the local medical community, and provides tips and resources for physicians to put to use in their practice
Computing Care, a column that reviews computer-related products, Web sites or Internet applications to help physicians decide what is hype and what is really happening in technology
Business of Medicine, which offers applicable information on business operations, managed care, and other practice issues
Member Services keeps members informed about new and existing benefits of membership
Health Allies, which highlights a local, nonprofit organization and its role in the Dallas medical community
Clinical Update, an article or a series of articles concerning the latest treatments and technologies used in a specific specialty or specific diagnosis
MD Report, a one-page profile of a medical case study
Last Look represents our past with an archived photo depicting the history of the Dallas medical community

Each issue also provides legislative reports, minutes of DCMS board meetings, a list of new members, news from the DCMS Alliance, and member obituaries.

Writers, artists, poets, photographers- please submit your work to the DMJ.

DMJ is attempting to publish a literary issue. Writers, artists, poets, photographers-please submit your work. The literary issue will be a medley of essays, poetry, and short stories-fiction or creative nonfiction- illustrated with artwork-paintings, renderings, photographs, etc. All submissions should have a medical/health theme and include a short (25-30 words) bio. If your work is selected for publication, the DMJ will frame your published submission, with the issue's cover, as a memento.

DMJ Literary Issue - Submission Guidelines

Work submitted by DCMS members will be given priority.
All submissions should encompass a medical/science/health theme.
Prose should be limited to 1500 words, typed and double-spaced.
Poems should be single spaced and no longer than one page.
Photographs and photographs of artwork should be submitted on prints, slides, or digitally at 300 dpi or more.
Include name, address, phone number, fax number, and email address, and whether your submission is fiction, creative nonfiction, essay, poetry, or artwork. Also include a short (25 - 30 words) bio with your work.

If emailing your submission, attach it as a Word document (or in the case of artwork, as a jpg or tiff file) and send to Traci Beeson, DMJ managing editor, at tbeeson@dallas-cms.org.

If mailing your submission, include a hard copy and electronic file on disc or CD and send to DMJ Literary Issue, attn: Traci Beeson, DMJ managing editor, PO Box 4680, Dallas, Texas 75208.
