In 2002, a committee of DCMS members met to discuss how to enhance the DCMS Directory. After much thought, the group agreed to develop two new products: an electronic directory of members for Palm-based handheld computers and a commercial directory containing office information to be sold only to medical-related organizations. DCMSDigital, now known as DigiDocs, made its debut in Fall 2002. The application is easy to download from the DCMS Web site, www.dallas-cms.org. DigiDocs is a downloadable program for your handheld computer that provides a searchable database of DCMS member physician contact information at your fingertips, with the physicians name, specialty, ZIP code, phone, fax, and e-mail. DCMS members receive one free download per year. This free download is available from July 1 through Sept 30 and only on the DCMS Web site at www.dallas-cms.org. DigiDocs information is updated on Oct 1, Jan 1, and April 1. These downloads are available for $25 per quarter and do not expire. (Click here to download the first quarter update for 2003.) The traditional DCMS Directory is a very visible and important member service. Numerous physicians join the medical society simply to have their names listed because this directory is widely used in the medical community. The new commercial version of DCMS Directory will be released this summer. It will contain office information only and will be sold to medical-related companies. DCMS will publish the traditional versionwith home addresses includedfor DCMS members only. The DCMS Directory includes listings by specialty and geographic region. There are sections for residents, large group practices, hospitals, and nonprofit organizations. One other new featureavailable in both print directoriesis a pharmacy section.
