Each year, hundreds of Dallas-area physicians give up a week or two to be part of a medical mission team that provides medical care to patients in Third World countries. For many physicians, these trips require weeks or months of planning to ensure they have the required vaccinations, passport, medical equipment, and coverage for their own patients while they are gone. These efforts are noble and much needed, but the physicians may not realize they can do medical mission work right here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with patients in dire need of medical attention.
