Emergency Response - Volunteering During Emergencies
The Dallas County Medical Society serves as the primary resource coordinator for scheduling, recruiting, and utilizing physicians who wish to volunteer during any public health emergency in Dallas County. Physicians who volunteer must be members in good standing with Dallas County Medical Society and maintain a current license to practice medicine from the Texas Medical Board.
Physicians who have volunteered in the past have been given assignments such as seeing patients who evacuated from Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, and Ike. Volunteering physicians need not be of any particular specialty or training, only the desire to serve the community in its time of need. We do, however, typically need physicians who are trained in Pediatrics, Primary Care, and Emergency Medicine.
