Latest on COVID-19 Therapies:

Dallas County Guidance for COVID-19 Therapeutics Prioritization. The Dallas County Public Health Committee and Dallas County Medical Society have issued a statement on the prioritization for the use of anti-SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) monoclonal antibodies and antiviral agents in the outpatient setting given the current limited supply.

Texas offers new COVID-19 treatments after omicron exhausts monoclonal antibody supply. Three recently authorized therapeutics are now available throughout the state and may be effective for certain COVID-19 patients. DSHS has provided more information for COVID-19 therapeutics providers.

Statement on patient prioritization for outpatient Anti-SARS-CoV-2 therapies or preventive strategies when there are logistical or supply constraints. The COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel (the Panel) has recommended several therapeutic agents for the treatment and prevention of SARS-CoV-2 infection in individuals who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19.

Statement on therapies for high-risk, non-hospitalized patients with mild to moderate COVID-19. Because sotrovimab is the only available anti-SARS-CoV-2 mAb that is anticipated to have activity against the Omicron VOC, the Panel recently added a 3-day course of intravenous (IV) remdesivir as another treatment option for this group of patients (see the Panel’s statement in an archived version of the Guidelines).

Open Letter to the Education Community from the Dallas County Medical Society - August 27, 2021

DCMS continues to work at supporting our member physicians in fighting the spread of COVID-19. As students and staff have begun to return to the classroom during this most recent surge, members have asked for additional tools to assist them in working with local schools and districts in Dallas County regarding masking policies. DCMS has developed a statement regarding adoption of the AAP and CDC guidelines for masking and other prevention recommendations that you are welcome to use, as needed, in your volunteer efforts outside of your practice and in our community.
