Healthcare, Remixed: 2021 and Beyond with ZDoggMD

The last DCMS Connect webinar for 2020 featured Dr. Zubin Damania, also known as “ZDoggMD.” ZDoggMD discussed all that we have faced and accomplished in 2020 while helping us to recharge for the new year.

Dr. Zubin Damania is a UCSF/Stanford-trained internist and founder of Turntable Health, an innovative primary care clinic and model for Health 3.0. During a decade-long hospitalist career at Stanford, he experienced our dysfunctional healthcare system firsthand. As a way to address his own “burnout” and find a voice, he started producing videos and live shows under the pseudonym “ZDoggMD” that have since gone epidemically viral.

Physician Burnout - Live Workshop

The healthcare environment—with its packed work days, demanding pace, time pressures, and emotional intensity—can put physicians and other clinicians at high risk for burnout. Burnout is a long-term stress reaction marked by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a lack of sense of personal accomplishment. Dr. Dike Drummond is a Mayo-trained family practice physician and the leading coach, trainer, and consultant on the prevention of burnout in individual physicians and the realization of the Quadruple Aim in healthcare organizations.

Why Healthcare Needed COVID

With burnout rates on the rise, strong mentorship among all physician communities should be encouraged. Specifically, females make up 50 percent of medical school graduates, but comprise only 33 percent of the physician work force. To celebrate and empower our amazing women in medicine, Hala Sabry, DO, founder of “Physician Moms Group,” spoke about being a female physician and a mom during the current pandemic.
